Emergency repairs are being made to the Ferndale levee, and are expected to be completed tomorrow. The work will armor approximately 100 ft. of levee that was damaged during the November high water. As the owner and public sponsor of the levee, the City of Ferndale applies for repairs through the PL 84-99 rehabilitation assistance program through the US Army Corps of Engineers.
Ferndale Road between Cherry St. and Ulrich Rd.
Drivers should expect delays or choose alternate routes as traffic is reduced to single lane alternating traffic on Ferndale Rd. between Cherry St. and Ulrich Road from Monday, December 6th through Friday, December 10th The traffic revision is in effect from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Flaggers will be onsite to direct traffic. Road will remain open during nonworking hours.
A USACE crew will be working to repair the levee.

The City Council meeting at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 6, 2021 (note the time change from the regular start time of 6:00 p.m.) will be held remotely via Microsoft Teams, with staff and Councilmembers accessing the meeting from individual locations. This complies with Governor Jay Inslee’s Proclamation 20-28, as extended until further notice.
This is still an open public meeting as defined by the Open Public Meetings Act. The City will be using Microsoft Teams to livestream the council meeting. Members of the public do not need to download anything to view the proceedings. To join the meeting, click here.

With the Nooksack river receding and more favorable weather in the forecast, the sandbagging station, located behind City Hall, has now been taken down.
