July 27th Road Closures – Whatcom Old Settlers Pioneer Days Grand Parade

This Saturday, July 27th, is the Whatcom County Old Settlers Association‘s 128th Pioneer Days Celebration Grand Parade! The parade begins at 11:00 a.m. with the route going through Downtown Ferndale. Please plan alternate routes in and out of the City between 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., avoiding Main Street and Ferndale Road. Alternate routes include Imhoff Road to Slater Road or using the Thornton Overpass.

Please note, there will be no parking between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the following locations on Saturday, July 27th:

  • No parking along Shuksan Street
  • Golden Eagle Drive between Washington Street and Shuksan Street
  • Washington Street between Golden Eagle Drive and Third Avenue
  • Third Avenue between Washington Street and Main Street
  • No parking on Main Street between Third Avenue and First Avenue (Main Street will be closed between Fourth Avenue and Hovander Road)
  • First Avenue between Main Street and Cherry Street
  • Cherry Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue
  • No parking along Ferndale Road for all of Friday and Saturday (drivers can use Ferndale Road from the South to get to overflow parking on the South side of the P-66 Complex)

We surely don’t want any cars towed. Main St. bridge coming into downtown Ferndale, Portal Way and Washington St. Main and 3rd Ave will not be accessible.

Notice of Special Arts Commission Meeting

The Ferndale Arts Commission is charged with enhancing the community by advising on public art and community aesthetic enhancement.

The Arts Commission will hold a special meeting at 5 p.m. on July 24th, 2024, in the City Hall Main Conference Room, 2095 Main St. The purpose will be to review applications for the sculpture in Griffintown Park.

2nd Notice: Notice of Traffic Revision and Possible Delays: Monday, July 8th through Fall 2024

Malloy Ave will be CLOSED to through traffic between Kona Ct and 6340 Malloy Ave
July 8th, 2024 – Fall 2024

Expect longer commute times and delays as Malloy Ave will be CLOSED to through traffic between Kona Ct and 6340 Malloy Ave. beginning on Monday, July 8th. Through traffic will detour via Aldergrove Rd, Vista Dr, and Thornton St. The closure is in effect 7 day per week, 24 hours a day for the duration of the project.

This closure is for work associated with the City of Ferndale’s Whiskey Creek Culvert Replacement Project. Updated information on closure duration and project competition date will be shared as the project progresses.

City Seeks Applications for 2025 Organizational Grants

The City of Ferndale provides grants to various human services and economic development organizations to help support unhoused, low-income, and senior residents, and to promote economic development within the City.

The challenge given the City’s inability to serve all needs for all people and all businesses is to determine how to create the greatest impact with available funding. Proposals will be evaluated by City Staff and approved or denied by the Ferndale City Council as part of the budget process.

DEADLINE IS SEPTEMBER 1st, 2024. Interested organizations can fill out the application found here.
