LaBounty Drive, between Smith Road and Slater Road
Drivers should expect delays as traffic is reduced to single lane alternating traffic near 5127 LaBounty Drive between Smith Road and Slater Road. The traffic revision is on Tuesday, August 1st, 2023. The traffic revision is in effect from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Flaggers will be onsite to direct traffic. Road will remain open during nonworking hours.
This work is associated with a private development project.
With the Nooksack river receding and more favorable weather in the forecast, the sandbagging station, located behind City Hall, has now been taken down. The City will continue monitoring water levels and forecasts, and reestablish the station should the need arise. Check back here, or visit City of Ferndale’s Facebook page for the latest updates.
EVACUATION NOTICE
Out of an abundance of caution, the City of Ferndale is STRONGLY encouraging and requesting the voluntary evacuation of all residents and businesses in the area south of Main Street between 4th Avenue and the Nooksack River, effective immediately. The Nooksack River has not yet reached its crest, and the potential exists for the river to breach the existing levee. Residents and businesses are encouraged to secure and then evacuate their properties; the City will inform the public when it is safe to return. All residents outside of the voluntary evacuation area are requested to avoid any unnecessary trips and to stay off the roadways, in order for emergency and first responders to effectively respond to the emergency.
Evacuees should exit to the north and Main Street to leave the area. Temporary shelter is now available at the Ferndale High School cafeteria, which can be accessed off Golden Eagle Drive or Shuksan Drive from Vista Drive or Washington Street. Drivers should expect delays as LaBounty Drive is closed to thru traffic between Smith Road and Sunset Avenue starting at 7AM on Tuesday, September 7th until 7PM on Wednesday, September 8th. Northbound traffic will be detoured via Sunset Ave. to Rural Ave. to Slater Rd. to Pacific Hwy. to Smith Rd. to LaBounty Dr. Southbound traffic will be detoured via Smith Rd. to Pacific Hwy. to Slater Rd. to Rural Ave. to Sunset Ave. to Labounty Dr. Detour route will be marked. Road will remain closed for duration of the work, including overnight. This work is to complete road improvements associated with a private development project.
