The Tree Board (formerly called the Community Forestry Committee) shall be charged with protecting and improving the quality of its existing and future tree resources, and to provide, update and administer a written plan for the care, preservation, pruning, planting, replanting, removal or disposition of trees and shrubs in parks, along streets and in other public areas. The Board shall consist of five members appointed by the Mayor subject to confirmation by the City Council. (Ord. 1955 § 1 (Exh. 1), 2016)

Membership Requirements: Board members shall serve four-year terms. Board member whose term is expiring may reapply to serve an additional term subject to recommendation by the Mayor and confirmation by the City Council. No limitations are created regarding the number of terms a Board member may serve. Members of the public who have resided in Whatcom County for at least one year are eligible to serve on the Board.
