City Seeks Public Input on Acquiring FHS Old Main Building
The city sorely needs a new courthouse, council chambers and city hall. The current facilities at their limits and inadequate for the needs of our community.
Recently, the City hired RMC Architects to assess the Old Main building on the Ferndale High School campus to see if it could be converted into a new City Hall, Courthouse and Council Chambers. The report, which can be found in its entirety here, determined that yes, the building could be used for that purpose and at a comparable price to building a new facility.
The question the City Council is considering at their Aug. 5th meeting is whether or not the City should move ahead with this plan. There are good arguments to be made on both sides of the issue (summarized in the infographic below).
