The City has a number of Boards and Commissions that work to advise the council on a broad array of subjects. These are volunteer positions but absolutely essential to providing quality input to the city decision making process.
There is currently a vacancy on the Arts Commission. Applications will be accepted until January 25, 2024. Membership on City Boards & Commissions is by appointment of the Mayor, subject to confirmation by City Council. Members shall be appointed upon the basis of demonstrated interest in, and knowledge of, the arts. At least four members of the Commission shall reside within the City limits at the time of their appointment and throughout their terms in office. Up to four members may be non-residents who have resided in Whatcom County for at least one year.
