Project Summary
In 2017, the City determined that the signal at First and Main was not warranted and removing it would improve traffic flow through our downtown core. The signal was removed; however, there were lingering pedestrian visibility and safety concerns for those wishing to cross Main Street.
This project provided reconfiguration of existing pedestrian crossings at the intersection of First Avenue and Main Street. Work included removal and replacement of cement concrete sidewalk, curb, and ADA ramps; removal of existing signal arms, cabinets, and related facilities. A rectangular Rapid Flash Beacon was installed on the west side of First Avenue.
