Pioneer Park

Nestled along the Nooksack River, Pioneer Park is one of Ferndale’s most cherished landmarks and a true celebration of local history. Home to one of the largest collections of authentic log cabins in the Pacific Northwest, the park offers a unique opportunity to explore the early days of settlement in Whatcom County. Each restored cabin tells a story, showcasing artifacts, architecture, and the spirit of the region’s pioneers.

Surrounded by towering evergreens and beautifully maintained grounds, Pioneer Park is a favorite destination for community events, guided tours, seasonal celebrations, and quiet strolls alike. Whether you’re discovering the past for the first time or revisiting a place filled with nostalgia, Pioneer Park invites you to experience the heritage, charm, and community pride that make Ferndale truly special.

Pioneer Park Cabins

Barr Barn

2007 Cherry Street, Ferndale
Barr Barn, located inside the Historic Pioneer Park, offers a rustic covered picnic area. The large sliding doors on both sides of the barn open the area for a larger space, while still protected from the elements.

Centennial Riverwalk Park 

Front Avenue, Ferndale
Centennial Riverwalk Park offers one of the most beautiful and tranquil outdoor experiences in Ferndale. Located along the peaceful banks of the Nooksack River and just steps from historic downtown and Pioneer Park. The park blends natural beauty, community charm, and recreational opportunity into one inviting destination. Stroll along the paved riverwalk pathway and enjoy sweeping views of the water, lush native vegetation, and local wildlife. With convenient trail connections, open green spaces, benches. The park provides the perfect setting for walking, jogging, birdwatching, or simply relaxing by the river. Its convenient downtown location makes it a natural gathering place for community events, farmers markets, and seasonal celebrations.

$500/DAY for large grounds (51+) per FMC 12.28.030, and requires a special event permit. Otherwise, first come first serve.

Vanderyacht Park

1945 Washington Street, Ferndale
Vanderyacht Park is a treasured community space named after the Vanderyacht family, who donated significant land for the park along the Nooksack River. Vanderyacht Park features benches, a walking path, memorial plaques, and recreational amenities, which include an off-leash dog park and 9-hole disc golf course. Located along the banks of the Nooksack River with river access for fishing or swimming.
