This project will reconstruct and widen approximately 2,500 feet of the existing roadway to City standards, including curb, gutter, sidewalks and improvements to the City’s utilities, including constructing or replacing stormwater, water and sewer lines.
This retrofit project will also include, to the maximum extent feasible, a pervious pavement system, bioretention facilities, and/or compost amended filter strips to improve the stormwater runoff quality in the Ferndale Terrace basin by capturing runoff from 2.4 acres of pollution-generating surfaces prior to its discharge to the Schell system and treat it in accordance with the 2012 Stormwater Management Manual for Western Washington.
The project is currently being designed and the City is working to complete environmental permitting necessary. Funding for design is being provided by the Washington State Stormwater Financial Assistance Program (Department of Ecology). Construction funding for this project has not yet been secured; therefore, no construction start date has been determined.
