Notice of Traffic Revisions and Possible Delays: Monday, Dec 6 – Friday, Dec 10th 2021

Ferndale Road between Cherry St. and Ulrich Rd.

Drivers should expect delays or choose alternate routes as traffic is reduced to single lane alternating traffic on Ferndale Rd. between Cherry St. and Ulrich Road from Monday, December 6th through Friday, December 10th The traffic revision is in effect from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Flaggers will be onsite to direct traffic. Road will remain open during nonworking hours.

A USACE crew will be working to repair the levee.

Remote Meeting Notice – December 6, 2021 City Council Meeting

The City Council meeting at 5:00 p.m. on Monday,  December 6, 2021  (note the time change from the regular start time of 6:00 p.m.) will be held remotely via Microsoft Teams, with staff and Councilmembers accessing the meeting from individual locations. This complies with Governor Jay Inslee’s Proclamation 20-28, as extended until further notice.

This is still an open public meeting as defined by the Open Public Meetings Act. The City will be using Microsoft Teams to livestream the council meeting. Members of the public do not need to download anything to view the proceedings. To join the meeting, click here.

 Included in Monday’s meeting is a public hearing for the adoption of the 2022 budget. Members of the public who wish to  provide comment for the public hearing may do so by one of the following methods:

  1. Email Finance Director Sirke Salminen (sirkesalminen@cityofferndale.org)  prior to the meeting.
  2. Phone in when the Mayor announces the opening of the public hearing. 360-685-2373
  3. In person at the City Hall Main Conference Room, 2095 Main Street. There is limited capacity for in-person attendance. Those wishing to offer a comment in person will be required to wear a face mask and observe social distancing requirements.

Members of the public who wish to submit comments on items not on the agenda are encouraged to submit written comments to City Clerk Susan Duncan by emailing susanduncan@cityofferndale.org. Comments received prior to 4:30 p.m. Monday, December 6, 2021 will be read during the public comment period of the meeting and included in the meeting record. Sandbagging Station – Suspension

With the Nooksack river receding and more favorable weather in the forecast, the sandbagging station, located behind City Hall, has now been taken down. The City will continue monitoring water levels and forecasts, and reestablish the station should the need arise. Check back here, or visit City of Ferndale’s Facebook page for the latest updates.

In a joint statement issued by the Ferndale School District and Ferndale Police Department, officials follow up regarding a weapons violation that occurred yesterday, Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Ferndale High School. The Ferndale Police Department and the Ferndale School District will continue to coordinate to ensure the safety of all students.

In a joint statement issued by the Ferndale School District and Ferndale Police Department, officials address the incident of a weapon on campus and resulting lockdown that occurred today, Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Ferndale High School. The Ferndale School District and the Ferndale Police Department will remain in close contact throughout this ongoing investigation and will provide any necessary updates as they become available. Both organizations will be in contact early Thursday morning and will work together to ensure the safety of our students and staff throughout the morning. This will include increased security, patrolling, and communication.

Malloy Ave., north of Kona Ct.

Drivers should expect delays as traffic is reduced to single lane alternating traffic on Malloy Ave. north of Kona Ct. on Friday, December 3rd. The traffic revision is in effect from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Flaggers will be onsite to direct traffic. Road will remain open during nonworking hours.

This closure is for engineers to gather data for an upcoming City project to replace the culvert crossing at Whisky Creek.
