Brief Vehicle Pursuit Leads to Arrest of Ferndale Suspect
On 10/18/2022 at approximately 1:30 pm, Ferndale Police were advised that Jade Garza was in the 5300 block of LaBounty Dr in Ferndale, WA.
Ferndale Police were aware that Jade Garza was wanted on a Department of Corrections warrant and that he was known to carry a firearm.
As law enforcement arrived in the area, Jade Garza fled in a vehicle. The vehicle was subsequently located in the 2300 block of Douglas Rd. Officers were able to observe Jade Garza in an apartment that law enforcement knew to be Garza’s residence.
Due to the severity of the warrant and Garza known to be armed, traffic to the area was blocked off and additional officers were called in. Once the area was secured, police were able to communicate with Garza. With the assistance of family members, Jade Garza eventually agreed to surrender without incident.
Multiple agencies responded to this incident, including the Ferndale Police Department, the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office, the Washington State Patrol, and other agencies.

Elected officials, city staff and contractors gathered Thursday afternoon to cut the ribbon at Ferndale’s newly expanded Wastewater Treatment Facility. Guests toured the new headworks, grit and aeration basins, clarifiers and UV disinfection facilities that make up the Wastewater Treatment process.
“This is the largest capital project the City of Ferndale has undertaken and I am proud to see it up and running,” said Mayor Greg Hansen.
The project was designed by Wilson Engineering, constructed by McClure and Sons, and overseen by City staff. For more details on Ferndale’s utilities, see www.cityofferndale.org/water. Additional photos of the event available on the City’s facebook page here.

Today, we recognize Indigenous Peoples’ Day. This is an opportunity to honor the resilience and immense contributions Native Americans have made to Ferndale’s past, present and future. We stand on the ancestral homelands of Coast Salish peoples, who have lived by and on the Salish Sea since time immemorial, and acknowledge the shaping hand of Indigenous Peoples’ on the course of history.
On this day, we ask all residents to take a moment to reflect on our relationship with tribal nations and indigenous cultures including the Coast Salish people and beyond, and how we can all continue to celebrate these lands, and the people who make them so special.
