Drivers should seek alternate routes as Ferndale Terrace will be closed to through traffic between Legoe Avenue and Vista Drive, on Monday, 5/24/2021, from 9am to 5pm. Local traffic to/from homes within closure area will be permitted. The closure is necessary for City of Ferndale Public Works crew to perform work on underground utilities.

Mayoral Proclamation For May 17th, 2021
National Public Works Week
WHEREAS, public works professionals focus on infrastructure, facilities and services that are of vital importance to sustainable and resilient communities and to the public health, high quality of life and well-being of the people of the City of Ferndale; and,
WHEREAS, these infrastructure, facilities and services could not be provided without the dedicated efforts of public works professionals, who are responsible for rebuilding, improving and protecting our nation’s transportation, water supply, water treatment and solid waste systems, parks, public buildings, and other structures and facilities essential for our citizens; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest for the citizens, civic leaders and children of Ferndale to gain an understanding of the importance of public works and public works programs in their respective communities;
Now, therefore, I, Greg Hansen, Mayor of Ferndale, Washington do hereby proclaim May 16th-22nd, 2021 as National Public Works Week. I urge all community members to participate in activities, events and ceremonies designed to pay tribute to our public works professionals, managers and employees and to recognize the substantial contributions they make to protecting our national health, safety, and quality of life.

Drivers should expect delays as a portion of Malloy Avenue, between Calico Loop and Willow Court, will be reduced to a single lane on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, April 20-22, between 7AM and 5PM. Traffic will alternate using one lane as directed by flaggers. This traffic impact is associated with a private project.

Malloy Avenue will be closed to all traffic at Thornton Street starting Tuesday, April 6, 2021. The intersection of Malloy and Thornton will be closed to north and south bound traffic for a period up to 6 weeks. During the closure, northbound traffic will be detoured from Malloy Avenue at Seamount Drive and directed onto Vista Drive (truck traffic will be detoured onto Vista Drive at the roundabout). Southbound traffic will be detoured from Malloy Avenue at Aldergrove Road and onto Vista Drive. East and westbound traffic on Thornton Street will be flagged through the work area, but will not be permitted to turn onto Malloy Avenue during the closure. Details are shown on the attached.
