Douglas and Main Street Improvement Project

Ferndale is moving forward to complete roadway and intersection improvements on Main Street and Douglas Road.  Work will include the installation of a traffic signal and improved alignment at the intersection of Douglas and Main, with channelized turn lanes, pedestrian-activated crosswalk controls, curb, gutter and Crosswalk on Main Street, just west of Douglas Road intersectionsidewalk. The City is funding this project through a combination of sources, including $1,046,649 in STPR federal grant funds administered through the Washington State Department of Transportation, $92,300.00 of Safe Routes to School funds received by the Ferndale School District for their Feet First Ferndale program, and over $178,000.00 in City funds.

The City will be accepting bids and selecting a contractor for this project in August 2007, and anticipate that the project will be substantially complete and fully functional by the end of the calendar year in 2007.

We will be updating our webpage periodically with more information regarding this project. You can also go to our Road Closures page for a list of current road closures and traffic alterations, or our general Projects page for current notices and updates posted by the Public Works Department.
