LaBounty Road Closed

Notice of Road Closure on LaBounty Drive, between Seahawk Drive and Sunset Avenue, Ferndale
Press Release Issued February 9, 2010
LaBounty Drive, between Seahawk Drive and Sunset Avenue, Ferndale, is closed to all through traffic. Local access is permitted to properties located within the closure area. Motorists accustomed to travelling on this roadway are required to use alternate routes until LaBounty can be reopened.

Damage due to heavy freezing and thawing earlier in the season has caused a portion of the street section to fail. The Ferndale City Council passed a resolution on January 19, 2010, authorizing closure of LaBounty to prevent further damage to the roadway. The closure is necessary to limit traffic on the damaged section and to preserve the roadway for use by those accessing properties within the closure area.

The City of Ferndale Public Works Department is working as quickly as possible to develop an emergency roadway repair project to fix the problem area on LaBounty.  Staff is currently putting together a project and will work through the process of selecting a contractor to complete repairs necessary to reopen the roadway to all traffic. It is our anticipation that construction will be underway within 2 months.

We are asking for your patience and understanding as we take this necessary step to preserve the roadway and work diligently towards a solution to repair this piece of City infrastructure.

Additional information regarding this project will be made available on our website as the project progresses. Please go to the City’s webpage at http://www.cityofferndale.org for the most current information. If you have questions regarding this notice, please contact the Ferndale Public Works Department at (360) 384-4006.
