Centennial Riverwalk Park

The Centennial Riverwalk Park commemorates the City of Ferndale’s centennial year (2007) and also pays tribute to Ferndale’s most prominent natural landmark, the Nooksack River, by providing a wide public passageway along its western bank. The decorative concrete pathway mirrors the water’s ebb and flow, as educational signs provide information about the nearby river and native salmon species. Benches made from yellow cedar are scattered throughout the park and provide good opportunity to view the three impressive totems created by the House of Tears Carvers and installed at the Maple Street Park area. Main Street Plaza, located at the north end of the riverwalk, is an inviting space for visitors to sit and enjoy the fountain, community Christmas tree and other plants found in the landscaped area, as the American flag flies overhead.

The park, which not only recognizes local Native American and early Ferndale history, also provides a wonderfully expansive outdoor area for the community to enjoy and use as a gathering place for events such as the Ferndale Farmer’s Market, Old Settler’s Fun Run and Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.
