Why We're Doing This:

Hunger exists in Ferndale. Approximately 48 percent of Ferndale School District residents live near or at the poverty level, a shocking statistic that you may not realize. The Food Bank serves a large group of children, with about 37 percent of all those served at the Food Bank being kids.

The Food Bank continues to see increased usage, with an 18 percent increase in service from 2010 to 2011.

The Food Bank served 1,300 more individuals in the fourth quarter of 2011 compared to the same period in 2010.

The Day of Giving provides an opportunity for Ferndale as a community to come together around the issue of hunger. As federal and state aid to those living in poverty continues to decline, the need for a community food bank becomes vital to fill the gap.

Neighbors helping neighbors makes for a strong community. Please give what you can and as often as you can.
