Ferndale Arts Commission is extending a Call to Artists for its fifth annual Free Verse Photo Project.
A line or two selected from a poem is taken off the page and written in a nontraditional, unexpected way. For example, a fragment of verse by T.S. Elliot was drawn in sugar strewn across a table. Legendary lines by William Carlos Williams were etched in mud covering a red wheelbarrow. The line of poetry must be in the photo when shot, not added later.
Photographs must be a minimum of 8”x10” and must be mounted on standard black mounting board, or black construction paper.
Deadline for entries is 5:00 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2017. Entries will be accepted in person: Ferndale City Hall, 2095 Main Street, or by mail: City of Ferndale, PO Box 936, Ferndale, WA 98248. Online entries cannot be accepted.
Prizes will be awarded for winning entries. All entries will be displayed in participating businesses throughout Ferndale.
