April 4, 2011 What We've Done: The city first invited initial input from the community and other public agencies to assess what should be studied in the environmental impact statement. That input period ended March 2, and now the City and its consultant team have begun work on the Planned Action EIS. What We're Doing: This effort includes gathering information within the study area about current traffic counts, the stormwater conveyance systems in the area, general wetland information and more. An analysis of growth based on the three development scenarios (growth under the current Comprehensive Plan, a moderate increase above the Comprehensive Plan, a high increase over the Comprehensive Plan) is also being developed. What's Next: This analysis will assist the City and its consultant team in identifying likely impacts of growth on transportation, land use, the natural environment, public services and utilities. The information, as well as possible mitigation measures, will then be incorporated into the Draft Environmental Impact Statement, which is scheduled for public review and comment on or around June 15th. The Planned Action EIS ordinance may be considered by the council in Fall 2011. If you have any additional questions, please contact Jori Burnett at (360) 685-2367. |
